Zurich Zoo – a Natural Experience

Located on the Zurichberg, Zurich Zoo is home to around 350 animal species in near-natural habitats. As a modern, scientifically managed zoo, its primary goal is the preservation of nature. It works toward this goal in four equally important areas: species protection, nature conservation, education, and research.

The zoo promotes biodiversity through the high-quality, innovative husbandry of endangered species – for example, in the Masoala Rainforest, the expansive Lewa Savanna, and the Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park. Further habitats of this type are currently being created.

The zoo protects nature by supporting long-term, sustainable conservation projects around the world. To protect nature on its own doorstep, it continually works to improve its own sustainability.

The zoo raises awareness and motivates its guests to actively participate in nature conservation. It creates an emotional bond between guests and animals and offers concrete ideas on how everyone can protect nature themselves.

The zoo enables research by providing the conditions necessary to explore, better understand, and ultimately protect the diversity of the animals kept there.

Zürich Zoo acts as an ambassador between people, animals, and nature, offering an exceptional setting for business and private events in a unique setting – from birthday parties and employee receptions to anniversary banquets. The experienced events team advises interested parties on all available options and, upon request, is happy to take over the planning, organization, and implementation of the event.

Visit the Masoala Rainforest and enjoy a view from the treetops on the Masoala Treetop Walkway. Encounter animals such as Rodrigues' fruit bats, parrots, geckos, and snakes.
At the Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park, you can marvel at Asian elephants and other animal species. A special attraction is the underwater view when the elephants enjoy a bath. The Australian enclosure offers fascinating insights into Australia's wildlife and is home to koalas, kangaroos, giant monitor lizards, and other Australian animals.

The Mongolian Steppe is home to a group of Bactrian camels, domestic yaks, and cashmere goats. It also features a small yurt village. Mobiliar donated one of the Mongolian yurts, which is now regularly used as an overnight stay for the popular nightwalkers.
